Do Right Triangles Have You or Your Student Going in Circles?

A good portion of Geometry students that come to The Tutoring Place have started learning a new unit.

This unit focuses on special right triangles: 45-45-90 and 36-60-90 right triangles, and right triangles that have an altitude drawn from the hypotenuse. This unit expands on similarity rules from Unit 8.

It also introduces two newer topics, geometric mean and trigonometry. Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing square roots from last year’s Algebra 1 have returned as well. Nearly all of the current unit content will spill over into at least two subsequent units this spring.

So if you and your student are concerned about this unit, consider getting extra help. And leave the circles for the last two units this semester.
