Melissa Boone, MS, CCC-SLP is a speech language pathologist at The Tutoring Place. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in Linguistics and Spanish from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master of science degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a Bilingual English-Spanish Certificate from Marquette University. Melissa is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the state of Texas. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Melissa enjoys working with children and adolescents with disorders in receptive and expressive language, articulation and phonology, and fluency. She also enjoys working with adults who are interested in accent modification.

Melissa is passionate about evidence-based practice (EBP), the conscientious use of current best evidence in making decisions about intervention. EBP is a problem solving approach to clinical practice that integrates a) a systematic search for and critical appraisal of the most relevant evidence regarding a clinical question b) one’s own clinical expertise, and c) client preferences and values.
