Our Polices

The Tutoring Place requires 24-hour cancellation notice to ensure that scheduled tutors can be notified and/or reserved time slots can be given to other students. We reserve the right to charge students for missed appointments.

The Tutoring Place does not offer refunds.  Instead, in the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied with an appointment, your next appointment is on us.

Payment is due at the time of each appointment.  We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We require a credit card in order to schedule appointments. Students/parents may fill out a credit card authorization form that enables us to charge the credit card when appointments occur. Online booking and payment are now available. You may click here to view the Online Booking & Payment FAQ, and click here to schedule an appointment online.

In the event that payment is not received at the time of the appointment, The Tutoring Place will send out an invoice marked “Due on Receipt.”  Invoices will be considered past-due after 30 days, and we reserve the right to charge late fees and/or interest on late payments.  We also reserve the right to submit unpaid invoices to a collections agency.

For the privacy and security of both tutors and students, tutors and students are not allowed to share personal contact information with each other.  If a student needs to contact a tutor (or vice versa), that should be done through The Tutoring Place.  We are always more than happy to forward emails, et cetera, when necessary.  Similarly, all scheduling needs to be done through The Tutoring Place instead of the individual tutor to ensure that scheduling conflicts do not occur.

The Tutoring Place is locally/independently owned and operated and is not affiliated with any other businesses, organizations, or agencies at this time.  The Tutoring Place is registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with the State of Texas.

Regarding severe weather:

1) To the best of our ability, we will remain open as long as we have students who want to be tutored and tutors who are willing to tutor them. If severe weather forces us to close, we will do our best to notify in a timely manner all employees, parents, and students about our decision to close.

2.) In the event that we feel there is an imminent threat to the safety of anyone on our premises, we will move everyone in the building to the back room (the classroom), away from windows and exterior walls/doors, and we will remain there until we have determined that it is safe to resume tutoring and/or send students home.

3.) We will not allow students to leave our premises in the midst of severe weather unless their parents call The Tutoring Place and request that we send their children home. (We prefer that, in the midst of severe weather, parents come to The Tutoring Place and pick up their children, particularly if the students will be leaving an appointment early.)

4.) We do not want any of our students, tutors, or parents to be uncomfortable in any way. Moreover, we will not be responsible for putting any of our students, tutors, or parents in a dangerous situation. Therefore, we will not in any way coerce students, tutors, or parents into coming to an appointment that they feel may compromise their personal safety. Tutors and parents are responsible for determining whether it is safe to travel to/from The Tutoring Place or to remain at The Tutoring Place.

5.) Out of respect for everyone else at The Tutoring Place, please let us know ASAP if you (being a tutor, student, or parent) feel the need to cancel your appointments on a given day due to the potential danger posed by severe weather. We will not charge parents for appointments that are canceled out of concern for their safety and/or the safety of their students, nor will we penalize tutors in any way for not being able to make an appointment due to severe weather. We apologize for any inconvenience that the cancellation of an appointment may cause, and we will do our best to inform students, tutors, and parents of any changes to our schedule that are caused by severe weather.
